Subject: URN resolver scaling
There have been a number of concerns on the list recently (particularly
from Mitra) that the WHOIS++ technology for indexing (the centroids) stuff
may have trouble scaling. Well, if you look closely at the WHOIS++ index service
paper, one can set up multiple interlocking hierarchies of whois++ servers.
Having one hierarchy that mimics DNS is certainly an option with the WHOIS++
technology; the beauty of the WHOIS++ technology is that individual records
can contain more information than in DNS, and that these same resolver
servers can be indexed in other hierarchies by the same technology. So I really
don't think that the centroid scaling is a problem.
