Peter - you've answered your own question - i.e. defined a protocol
to do the dereferencing, you happen to choose to extend DNS to do that,
but thats exactly the kind of question needed.
By the way - I hope you didnt misunderstand the call for a protocol, this is
purely a call for a URN->URL resolution protocol, not a call for a universal
protocol to do everything.
