So I shelled out my $70 bucks and bought a copy of the spec.

Reading it would have been funny except companies like Sun, IBM,
DEC, HP, and OSF all apparently believe in it.

According to my count the spec defines 177(!) different routines
for the connection and manipulation of name spaces.

This is totally broken. I think the original version of unix
only had something like 50 system calls.

Forget about trying to have it made freely available. Having
them charge lots of money is the best thing that can happen to it.

Seriously though, we might need to pay some attention to it.
Some big companies are committed to implementing it, and it
overlaps with some of the URI work.

Let's add it to the "legacy systems" section :-)
