Thanks very much for the URLs. As you point out, Version 3 is under
with three formats available. I understand one can now get Version 2 from
ftp://ftp.cni.org/pub/NISO/docs/Z39.50-1992/www/Z39.50.toc.html
I was actually asking a bit obliquely which version (2 or 3) to cite,
looking for advice from the Z39.50 Implementors Group.
FYI, Version 2 is approved, deployed, stable, and a third the size
(measured in pages) of Version 3. Version 3 is being balloted until
the end of this month. The essential background for the Z39.50 URL
is in both, but a few items (e.g., record syntaxes, attribute sets)
registered in Version 3 will probably be needed.
