Web Site Development
I have built several large and extremely complex web sites, involving incorporating new technologies, but my passion is sites that serve a purpose for the community or the environment.
The site I am best known for is GreenNet - started in 1985 (yes, 1985) in England, it serves the Environment, Peace and Social Justice communities.
I work with a network of professionals to achieve this, including local graphics designers, hosting providers and programmers either in the Byron area, or in India.
If your site is:
- Connected in some way with sustainability AND
- EITHER: Big and complex;
- OR - wants to use Movable Type's blog or possibly the APC-AA
- OR - is local to me - e.g. within a couple of hours of Byron (that includes Brisbane!).
then I might be able to help you.
Recent web-site clients include:
- Post Normal Times: I am on their advisory board and helped them integrate a blog into their website for live content and reporting.
- Downshifting Downunder: I'm co-convenor of this organisation, and part of my role has been a movable-type based website.
- Tyagarah Systainable Community Alliance: A simple news and information site I built for a local community group I am actively involved with.
- climatefriendly.com: Built their prototype site, to figure out what exactly they wanted, and test out their emission calculations etc. Its now been replaced by a custom designed site.
- Green Marketplace: Looked at speed issues and optimization with their eCommerce site.
- Institute for Global Communications: Provide ongoing consultancy on moving to Content Management Systems
Just for background, a couple of other larger projects included America Online's first connection to the internet and Sovam, the first ISP in Russia.
